Life Without Barriers - South Brisbane and Logan
Life Without Barriers is a national not-for-profit organisation providing care and support services across Australia. We started small, but we've grown to over 100 offices in Australia. We think local but draw on our wealth of experience to make sure local communities - from city suburbs to remote townships - receive the support and services that are right for them. Helping clients to retain their independence is key to our client directed care approach. At Life Without Barriers we know that getting older doesn't mean you should stop doing the things you enjoy or living the life of your choosing. We're here to help. Our Commonwealth Home Support Programme is tailored to assist you to remain living at home for as long as possible and to enable you to have choice and flexibility in the way that care and support is provided at your home.

Resthaven Community Services - Onkaparinga
Working in partnership with participants, we develop group activities based on preferred interests, hobbies and abilities. Some activities are tailored to support people to retain or learn new skills, and to participate at a level they are most confident and comfortable with. Group-based activities may include:
• art, craft and other hobbies
• men’s, women’s and mixed social groups (games, guest speakers, entertainment, bus trips, lunch outings)
• wellness groups (gentle exercise, massage, education and discussion)
• educational activities/courses.
Activities are flexible depending on interests and skills people bring to the group. Group based activities are currently held at venues in the Onkaparinga area. Transport to and from the venue may be provided, depending on your circumstances. Staff and volunteers are trained in supporting older people and people living with dementia.

Group Activities Program
The Group Activities Program offers unique social support opportunities for carers and care recipients. The program was established more then ten years ago with only two language groups.
In 1997, the program grew to include five groups in five ethno specific languages located in the Northern Region.
Since its expansion in 2001, the program has grown considerably to include seven ethno specific languages (Arabic, Turkish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Italian, Greek, Afghan, Japanese and Sudanese). ADEC now runs 13 language specific Carers’ support groups.
