Meals and help with food preparation
BASScare Canterbury Centre Meal Services
Our Meals on Wheels program is a service we’re proud to deliver throughout the Boroondara community. More than just providing a nutritious, three-course meal to older people’s homes, it’s also about fostering a sense of community and promoting independence. Many of our clients wish to remain in their own home and receiving a hot meal each weekday allows them to do this. For our long-time volunteers who deliver the meals, it’s a role they cherish and, often, if feels like a drop-in on an old friend.
At BASScare, it’s all about the client. Even down to the menu. We know what the favourite meals are, so we make sure they’re on rotation. Furthermore, it serves as a check-in on the welfare of our clients. Any problems a client may be experiencing are quickly brought to the attention of BASScare staff, whom proceed to notify family members or carers.

Ethnic Link Services (ELS) is a statewide CALD specialist service that assists older people and their carers from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds to maintain their independence and to support them living at home in their communities. ELS uses bilingual, bicultural staff to provide language and support services for clients. ELS also facilitates social support groups for various CALD communities across South Australia. New languages are added as required. Additional to the CALD specialist supports, we are now also offering support to Non-CALD older people and their carers.
