Service Description: Community Speech Pathologists provide assessment and management of individual clients for communication and swallowing disorders, and may provide advice, intervention, treatment and counseling for the following aspects of communication:
Speech affected by neurological disorders e.g. stroke, Parkinson’s disease; language, affected by illness or injury resulting in changes to comprehension and expression of spoken, written, non-verbal communication; cognitive impairments including; attention, memory, problem solving, decision making; swallowing impairments that can cause other serious medical conditions; voice control e.g. poor volume or abnormal sound. Interpreters are available, if required.
