Mosman Social Support
Mosman Carers’ Group
One of Mosman Aged Services many success stories is the Mosman Carers’ Group, which has been going for more than 17 years. People caring for a spouse, parent, other relative or friend with an illness or disability meet every Wednesday from 10am to 12pm, most often at Mosman Council but sometimes at a local cafe. In the words of a carer, “We don’t know how we would have coped without the Carers’ Group. The regular guest speakers, the support, the friendship and understanding it provides has made a huge difference and the Carers bus outings are a wonderful and often vital break.” In 2011, Mosman Carers’ Group was awarded the NSW Local Carers Award for the Carers Support Group category, recognising “the outstanding contribution of individuals and organisations that care for people in NSW” and acknowledging “that the caring contributes positively to the person for whom they care and to the Mosman community as a whole”.
