Australian Unity’s home services are suitable for older people who would like some extra support to get the most out of life.

We offer support with everyday activities like personal support, cleaning and gardening, as well as health care services delivered by qualified professionals, such as nurses, physiotherapists and podiatrists.

Our friendly and dependable team will take the time to get to know you and tailor a support program to suit your individual needs. You’ll have a choice of team members to assist you and they will work with you as part of your expanded support team.

You’ll only pay for the services you use and agree to.

Australian Unity has been supporting the wellbeing of Australians for more than 180 years. As a mutual company, Australian Unity is owned by its members, rather than shareholders. This means we do not pay our profits to shareholders, but rather reinvest them back into further services that directly support our members and customers.

Our domestic assistance service is a joint effort between us and the Client. We encourage Clients to become involved in light household duties, such as dusting, wiping over kitchen benches etc. it is important to stay active as we get older, and this is a great way of getting some gentle exercise incorporated into your daily life. We will still do the heavier tasks such as cleaning bathrooms and vacuuming.

This approach, called the enabling approach, allows us to work alongside our Clients. Using this approach, the Clients still does everything in their own home that they can manage, and we support them by assisting with things they struggle with. Our focus is on the Client and keeping them as independent as possible.

We also are able to show you some new equipment like bucket less mops, swivel sweepers and light weight vacuum cleaners that may be able to assist you to do some of the housework.
We also supply a large range of Linen.

Maximum 1.5 hours fortnightly of domestic assistance.
Shopping with a list also offered under this service type. Maximum 1.5 hours fortnightly also.

We can help you with Domestic tasks such as: light cleaning, clothes washing, and ironing. Vacuuming and washing floors, etc. This can be for a short or extended period depending on your individual circumstances. You may be unwell or recently discharged from hospital after a period of illness or surgery. Individual care plans are developed depending on your particular needs.
