For older adults, a lack of access to affordable, safe, trusted and age-friendly transport is a barrier to community participation and good health. Southern Cross Care’s Care Car service offers clients a convenient and reliable single-ride transport service, with safe vehicles and experienced drivers. Whether you are visiting one of our Health & Wellness Centres, attending a GP appointment or simply going to the shops, our Care Car can get you there. The Care Car service currently operates from depots at the Phillip Kennedy Centre (477-479 Military Road, Largs Bay) and The Pines (336 Marion Road, North Plympton). Clients can be picked up and dropped off within a 10km radius of these two depots. Clients must be physically able to get in and out of the car either without assistance or with the assistance of one person, and those with walking aids, baggage or shopping must be able to move these items in and out of the car without assistance.

We offer direct services (accompanied by a staff member) and indirect services (use of a taxi service). For older adults, transport issues are an acknowledged barrier to community participation and maintenance of good health. For those who still drive, reduced on the road confidence creates levels of anxiety and avoidance of activities, driving at certain times of the day, and driving into certain areas. SCC Care Car program offers clients a safe and reliable single ride service using an established pool of experienced and friendly driver. Whether you are going to the gym or going to the shops, Care Car can get you there. Riders can be picked-up and dropped-off within 10km of one of our Phillip Kennedy Centre, XX Military Rd, Largs Bay Care Car Depots. Riders must be physically able to get in and out of the car either without assistance, or with the assistance of one person.

Latrobe Community Health Service - Volunteer Transport
Latrobe Community Health Service volunteers transport clients to medical appointments both locally and to the city and surrounding suburbs. The client is picked up from their home and taken to their appointment, the driver will wait until the appointment has concluded and return them home.
