The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is a State Government organisation providing comprehensive health services to country West Australians.
WACHS spans 2.55 million square kilometres and is the largest country health system in Australia covering the whole of the State outside the metropolitan area.
Despite vast distances, WACHS provides health services to residents and visitors that include emergency and hospital services, population, public and primary health care, mental health, drug and alcohol services, Aboriginal health, child and community health and residential and community aged care services.
WACHS provides aged and community care services for older people across our communities, including aged care assessments, community care, residential aged care, subacute and acute care, and transitioning older people from hospital back into the community.
WACHS is a provider of CHSP services such as domestic assistance, personal care, meals and food services, and transport.
Meals on Wheels SA - Jamestown
Meals on Wheels SA supports people to remain well-nourished and live independently in their homes.
We deliver fabulously fresh, three-course meals packed full of flavour! Meals can be hot/ready-to-eat or frozen depending on your needs. Special dietary or medical requirements (e.g., Gluten-Free, Texture Modified) can be catered for – these may require a referral from your Doctor or Health Professional.
Our team of friendly volunteers personally deliver meals to customers’ doorsteps on weekdays between 11.15am-1.30pm. We also offer daily wellbeing checks as an exclusive and personal touch.
In addition, we provide home and group services such as cooking and food safety lessons, social dining experiences and Allied Health services.
Anyone who is experiencing difficulties with cooking and/or shopping can access Meals on Wheels. You may be eligible for Government subsidies via the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) and Home Care Packages. Private customers are also very welcome.
Italian Seniors Health & Wellness Centre-Hunter Multicultural Communities
ECC's Italian Seniors Health & Wellness centre operates at the Hunter Multicultural Communities hall one day a week: Friday; from 9am till 2pm. Staff and clients attending are mostly from Italian background. Freshly cooked three course meals, cooked and served in a friendly and culturally harmonious environment are of the of the Italian & Mediterranean style cuisine. Additionally, a wide range of activities and information sessions organised and presented in a culturally and linguistically appropriate manner, helps improve client wellbeing and reduces their social isolation. Our centres cater for Greek, Polish, Italian, Macedonian, Ukrainian and mixed multicultural communities. All services provided are person-centred and culturally appropriate. Our clients are encouraged to actively participate in creating and managing their own individual care plans. Transport is provided by our mini buses.
