Carers Queensland’s National Carer Counselling Program provides counselling and related emotional support services for carers. Counselling is provided by qualified, professional counsellors. Assistance may be provided on a one-off basis or over several counselling sessions.
The types of counselling available to you include:
•telephone
•face-to-face counselling
•group counselling
These services are also available to young carers.
SLHD Podiatry
SLHD Podiatry services are provided at locations across the Sydney Local Health District:
• Croydon and Marrickville Health Centres
• Canterbury, Concord, Balmain and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals.
The aim of the podiatry services within the Sydney Local Health District are to provide effective management of foot problems in people living in our community. Services are provided to clients with foot problems who are unable to provide the level of self care needed to maintain their own foot health and for whom the provision of podiatry care is assisting to maintain their mobility and independence.
Priority is given to:
• clients with foot problems/pathology for whom a hospital-based podiatry service is deemed more appropriate (due to their particular needs)
• clients for whom financially disadvantage is a barrier to accessing treatment
• clients with a serious chronic disease or a mental health diagnosis that is impacting their foot health.

Nutrition & Dietetics - Mona Vale
Community dietitians provide a range of nutrition services including dietary assessment and specialist dietary advice aimed towards the prevention of malnutrition, improving nutritional status and therapeutic management of many chronic diseases and conditions.
Specialist nutrition advice will be provided to clients and/or their carers to address issues such as inadequate oral intake, unintentional weight loss or weight gain and provide special diet plans to manage their condition/symptoms. For example diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, kidney disease and dialysis, food and nutrition advice for dementia and chronic diseases.
Recommendations may include diet modification, nutrition plans, including oral nutrition supplements and enteral feeds to the client and their carers. Interpreters are available if required.

Carer Resource Centres
The Carer Advisory Service is a statewide service providing information, support, planning and referral advice to help you in your caring role. Our staff are trained to understand the needs of carers. We can help you with specialised information and resources about caring, providing referral advice about services in Queensland, emotional support and referral to our counselling program.
Podiatry - Mona Vale
Podiatrists treat conditions of the feet & provide assessment, treatment & education to assist in managing & preventing complications including ulceration, amputation & infection in high risk clients. The services aim to preserve mobility & independence & prevent hospitalisation.
Northern Sydney Local Health District Podiatry Services accept referrals for people who have diabetes, renal disease, rheumatoid & other autoimmune diseases, spinal injury, spina bifida, transplant recipients, poor circulation & numbness of the feet. Clinics are held across the health district at hospitals & community health centres. Interpreters are available. A medical referral is required.
Personal care such as toenail cutting & management of calluses for people without chronic medical conditions is unable to be provided.
Clients who are unable to attend hospitals or community health centres can be referred to the Lane Cove and North Side Community Services for access to In-Home Podiatry services.
