Our Occupational Therapist are a community based, meaning they will visit you in your home. We offer a range of assessments and interventions including:
- Home modifications (major and minor)
- Equipment and assistive technology
- Falls prevention
- Education and training

Our Occupational Therapists will assess your ability to participate in everyday activities. The assessment is comprehensive and will take into consideration any medical conditions, your functional level and the aspects of the environment that impact your engagement with activities.

Hunter Home Modifications charges a flat fee of $90 for the occupational therapist involvement, an invoice for this is sent out after the initial assessment. At Uniting, we know that exercise can help us to stay active and strong, reduce our risk of falls and keep us living independently at home for longer.

Our Exercise Physiologists can work with you to develop a personalised exercise program to improve your energy, mobility, fitness, balance and muscle strength. They’ll also check you’re doing your exercises safely and give you tips on healthy living. Our physiotherapists can also help you improve your mobility and posture, strengthen your muscles and reduce pain.
Uniting’s ten-week Allied Health Program is Government funded with a small contribution fee to take part. Once the program is finished, Uniting offers long-term, low-cost services so that you can continue to work on your health and wellbeing.

Maintaining physical health is an important way for seniors to maintain independence in their homes and communities. Uniting has 10 gyms across Sydney, NSW and ACT - with equipment that’s ergonomically designed for seniors, and exercise physiologists who specialise in supporting your mobility, balance, strength, and fitness goals. Whether you’re recovering from illness, surgery, or injury, need help managing pain, or just want to improve your fitness in a fun and social environment, we’ll work with you to develop an exercise program that’s tailored to your specific needs. You can also join our online exercise classes if you can’t get to one of our gyms.

HammondCare Restorative Care Allied Health Team – experienced allied health professionals including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, exercise physiologists, dietitians and artist practitioners with experience in delivering in-home and centre-based restorative care programs to older people.

Vision Australia’s occupational therapists provide advice, recommendations, demonstration or training on strategies on grooming, maintaining health and fitness, clothing care and management, management of medication, identification of money, telephoning skills; preparing meals and safety etc.
