Community Health - Maroochydore
Community Health Occupational Therapists prescribe equipment and home modifications to improve the level of function of individuals who have a condition or disability which impacts upon independence, including conditions associated with ageing. Occupational Therapists visit individuals in their home and provide intervention for falls prevention, pressure injury management, and increasing the safety associated with activities of daily living such as showering, toileting and transfers. They complete home safety assessments and applications to the Medical Aid Subsidy Scheme for equipment where appropriate.

Speech pathologists assess and provide advice on swallowing disorders for those that experience difficulty eating, drinking and managing their own secretions. They also study, diagnose and treat communication disorders, including difficulties with speech, language and voice. Speech pathologists also assess and prescribe Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), devices that help people who find it difficult to speak or write to communicate more easily.
