You can take part in our individual social support services for people living with dementia. We aim to help you be less isolated, supporting you to be more socially engaged by building connections and getting involved with your community.
Meaningful activities are organised around your interests, needs and abilities, supporting you to live as well as possible and where appropriate, connecting with your community. Activities can also be arranged for you and your carer together, to support and strengthen your relationship, giving you both an enjoyable experience.

On the Gold Coast, we offer individual social support including:
• Helping with tasks (like shopping) and taking you to appointments
• Providing companionship (such as meeting you for coffee or a walk)
• Helping you to access various community activities
Walcha ATSI Multi Service Outlet
Social support keeps people connected with the community and provides services such as individual assistance to help with shopping, bill paying, support to access government services and help with reading correspondence, letter writing and posting mail.
Social support also offers companionship through friendly home visits or telephone contact to check how you are feeling, as well as assistance to attend regular community outings and social events. Walcha Council Community Care works with local volunteers to assist clients and carers with these services.
Goodwin Home Support Services
Goodwin’s in-home and community-based services provide assistance if you are living independently, but may need some help with everyday tasks, social support through our Day Clubs, or respite for those who care for you. Social support aims to help keep you supported and connected to your community, with services such as our Day Clubs or telephone support from a Goodwin carer.

Uniting’s support workers can visit you at home for a cuppa, conversation, and companionship. They can help you to start a new hobby or project, play cards or games with you, and even support you to use digital technology so you can easily connect with family, friends, and your community. They can also accompany you to attend local events or classes, visit your favourite café or park, attend medical appointments,or give you an extra pair of hands to help with the shopping or bill paying.

MECWACARE Home and Community Services North West Metro
mecwacare provides personalised services to help you remain independent. We assist you to attend medical and social appointments, help with your shopping, paperwork and correspondence. Also support you when taking a walk or even simply provide companionship and conversation.

People Who Care South West
People Who Care can offer a variety of Social Support services. Social Outings are offered weekly, varied, and created with your involvement from visiting cultural centres, seeing the wildflowers, or taking an Op Shop adventure. These structured activities are provided in a group-based environment and designed to develop, maintain, and support social interaction and independent living.
Also, People Who Care offers Social Support Individual services which is a one-on-one personalized support to help you participate in a variety of community activities, such as shopping, or social events.
Uniting AgeWell Strathdon - Mingara
Strathdon Mingara Centre provides a variety of programs for people with memory loss and their carers. The aims of the programs are to provide a range of recreational and therapeutic activities in a relaxed and supported environment that encourages independence, meet leisure and social needs and responsive to individual preferences and needs. Participants have the opportunity to enjoy a range of flexible activities including woodwork, art, cooking, my life story project and music programs. We also offer a secure expansive outdoor area for gardening activities, with a covered gazebo that can be enjoyed in the warmer weather.
These programs are available Monday to Friday and provide opportunity for people to meet new friends and try new activities, while also giving their carers a break from their caring role.
