Uniting AgeWell Carer Support Flexible Respite Network South
The Uniting AgeWell Carer Respite Service provides a break for a primary carer (usually a family member, friend or neighbour) who delivers regular and sustained care to a person living in the community. Respite can be provided in the home, out in the community, in a day centre, or in a residential facility. Respite Coordinators meet with Carers and the person for whom they care, to identify the most appropriate type of respite that will meet their needs. Respite is tailored to provide an enjoyable experience for the older person as well as providing some time out for both Carers and Care Recipients. Respite Coordinators are available to provide support, advice and education to Carers.
Centre-Based Respite: Respite is provided during the day within a day program environment for the person being cared for. The Carer Respite Service currently funds day respite in a number of community and/or residential settings across the eastern region.
