One of our trained Meals on Wheels volunteers is available to visit people regularly in their own homes, to provide regular social contact and a friendly, familiar face. We match customers with a volunteer who shares common interests.
Our range of activities are personalised and planned with the customer to meet their needs and interests, with a focus on social connection and food experiences, such as:
• sharing a cuppa and a delicious Meals on Wheels snack or meal together
• learning different skills, such as how to use technology safely and confidently, how to do a particular craft or how to prepare a favourite recipe
• enjoying activities together like games or puzzles that keep the mind active
• sharing recipes
• supporting those with early-stage dementia at mealtime
• having meaningful and stimulating conversations, reminiscing about the past or sharing life stories
• organising to invite family or old friends over to share a delicious Meals on Wheels meal
