Description

Ridgway House, located in Westbourne Park, provides an opportunity for the carer to have overnight (can include daytime) planned respite using a small, home style setting. This supports carers to take a break from their caring role and continue to participate in work or community life, while knowing the person they care for (the client) is supported by experienced staff. Up to four people stay in single rooms with ensuites (at any one time). Working with the carer and client, assessment is undertaken and tailored support such as personal care, medication management, and activities (from reading the paper to gardening) provided to meet the client’s assessed needs, capacity and abilities. There is a focus on reablement and daily living skills to support client independence. Staff are trained in supporting older people and people living with dementia. Transport to and from the venue may be provided, depending on the person's circumstances.
