The Communities from Former Yugoslavia - Social Support Group is a social support service for older people who have a background from any of the communities of the Former Yugoslavia. The group is facilitated by bilingual staff and volunteers and meets on Mondays and one Thursday per month from 9.30am to 1.30pm at Newtown Neighbourhood Centre, 11-13 Darley St, Newtown. The service incorporates social interactions, games and activities, information sessions, and group outings with the aim of enabling people to continue to live independently at home and to remain active and involved members in their communities. Light refreshments are provided. The service is for people who are aged 65 and over and who live in Inner West Sydney Local Government area (and surrounding suburbs). Transport to and from the group is not provided.
