Recently FAC appointed a Vietnamese cook, with extensive Vietnamese restaurant experience, who prepares all our Vietnamese and Asian meals by hand. We now have an Indian chef; a Vietnamese cook; and an Australian cook, forming the leadership team in our catering department. Following these appointments, we have been able to develop a fully-integrated Asian meal at each and every mealtime, in addition to our Western meal option, which we believe is second to none and which already provided an extensive range of choice options for our residents. Since all of our residents require a very high level of care, the basic choice of meal is one that can provide a large degree of comfort, pleasure and nutrition. Where residents are beyond making such a choice for themselves, our procedures provide for extensive input from family members, in choice of meals selected.
It should be noted that all meals at FAC are prepared on site, from fresh ingredients.

Description

Footscray Aged Care (FAC) is a private, family-owned residential aged care facility providing accommodation for 60 residents (formerly high care) in a home-like environment full of colour and warmth. The nursing home has been renovated throughout and presents as decidedly un-clinical and un-institutional. It is relaxed and spacious, with many communal areas where socialisation, activities, and entertainment take place. The facility is divided into two residential wings (of 30 people each). One wing focuses on Dementia Specific Care, the other on Clinical Care. A third wing houses a Day Therapy Centre, where Physiotherapy, Diversional Therapy and Massage services are provided to local community clients and to residents of the home.
FAC is only 5km from the CBD and situated in extensive gardens settings with multiple additional courtyards. The bedrooms all open onto brick-paved terraces.
