Description
"Program designed to support Carers in their caring role.In order to be eligible for this funding, the person whom is receiving the care must be 65 years or older or 50 and over if Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, reside in the ACT and have been in assessed by My Aged Care for the mandatory referral to be issued to Carers ACT. There must be a carer and care recipient relationship.
Respite can look different in every carers situation and having flexibility can be vital in many circumstances. Flexible Respite can take place in a variety of locations and can range from a couple of hours to a few days.
The services that can be provided under Flexible Respite include;
- In home help with the assistance of a support worker
- Assistance to purchase equipment
- Residential respite funding assistance – where the person you care for has a short stay within an Aged Care facility
- Emergency respite assistance in the event of the carer being unwell
