Community dietitians provide a range of nutrition services including dietary assessment and specialist dietary advice aimed towards the prevention of malnutrition, improving nutritional status and therapeutic management of many chronic diseases and conditions.
Specialist nutrition advice will be provided to clients and/or their carers to address issues such as inadequate oral intake, unintentional weight loss or weight gain and provide special diet plans to manage their condition/symptoms. For example diabetes, cardiovascular conditions, kidney disease and dialysis, food and nutrition advice for dementia and chronic diseases.
Recommendations may include diet modification, nutrition plans, including oral nutrition supplements and enteral feeds to the client and their carers. Interpreters are available if required.
