The Occupational Therapy service at South Gippsland Hospital works with people aged 65+ (or 50+ for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people) that have a disability or illness that has impacted upon their ability to complete daily tasks at home or in the community.
Occupational Therapists can work with people to conduct an assessment at their home. Occupational Therapists can assist with the following:
•Assessing your safety with daily tasks in the home (home assessment)
•Providing advice and education about preventing falls in the home and community
•Organising rail installation in your bathroom or steps into your home
•Assisting with bathroom modifications or ramp modifications at your home
•Providing advice about equipment that may increase your safety and independence with daily tasks within the home
