Physiotherapy services focus on:
1. Improving ability to function in tasks of daily living by increasing independence and safety within the home.
2. Preventing premature admission to residential aged care facilities or hospital.
Such services include:
• Home safety assessments including functional assessments
• Mobility aid prescription
• Falls assessment and education
• Individualised exercise programs for pain, range of movement, balance and strength when restricting function.
• Assessment for suitability for participation in group therapy programs
• Carer education
• Respiratory assessment and management of respiratory conditions that limit function
• Fatigue management
Does not include:
• Specialised areas of physiotherapy including women’s health and vestibular.
• Musculoskeletal pain not limiting function or impacting safety
• Consumers requiring intensive rehabilitation following an acute change in health eg. Post-operative, recent neurological event
