Respite for you, the carer, so you can take a break from your caring role while having the confidence that the person you care for (the client) is supported by trained staff. Working together with you and the client, respite is designed so that it best meets both your needs and the needs of the client. Services focus on activities that are designed around the client’s interests and abilities, and can also include assisting with your care responsibilities such as personal care and household tasks. Respite can be provided:
• in your or the client’s home during the day and/or overnight
• through supporting the client with one-on-one structured activities in the community. Activities can be chosen to support, maintain or develop independent living, social interaction and participation and may include new experiences or activities the client enjoys or has an interest in.
Staff are trained in supporting older people and people living with dementia.
