Caring for someone can be a valuable and rewarding experience. It can also be stressful and may leave you feeling emotionally or physically tired. As a carer, you should try to take regular breaks from your caring role. Such breaks, known as respite, may help relieve stress for the carer and the person receiving care.
If you are caring for a relative or a friend and would like help to allow you time out from your caring role we are here to help.
Western Sydney MRC friendly and professional staff can assist in the following areas:
- Centre-based respite, where the person you care for can attend the WSMRC office and meet with others which will allow you to have a short break to attend to other activities.
- Home-based respite, where a trained worker can support the person you care for in the home.
- Community outreach, where a trained worker can take the person you care for to activities or appointments to allow the carer a break.
