Home maintenance services provided to clients must focus on repairs or maintenance of the home and garden to improve safety, accessibility and independence within the home environment for the client, by minimising environmental health and safety hazards. Services refer to:
• major home maintenance and repairs;
• minor home maintenance and repairs; and
• garden maintenance.
Given the important role of the home environment, a home based assessment by a RAS is important for developing initial home and yard maintenance plans.
Activities funded can include a range of maintenance or repair tasks such as:
• Repair of internal flooring & external access pathways to address slip and trip hazards
• The provision and frequency of on-going home maintenance services (e.g. lawn mowing and garden pruning) must directly relate to assessed client need in terms of maintaining accessibility, safety, independence or health and wellbeing
