The new Support at Home program planned to start 1 November 2025

Published date: 15 August 2023

The Australian Government is committed to delivering reforms to in-home aged care that support older people to live safely and independently at home.

The new Support at Home program is planned to commence on 1 November 2025, which will aim to:

  • be simple to access and understand
  • give people timely access to the services they need
  • allow people real choice and control in determining the services they receive
  • have fair and transparent fees that direct funds to delivering safe, high-quality care.

By starting the program in November 2025, allows sufficient time for the Government to properly consult with older people, their families and carers to address the issues that matter most. It also allows time to consult and engage with in-home aged care providers and experts to refine the program’s design.

There will be no disruption to current in-home aged care programs, which will continue to operate as normal until 31 October 2025.
