Increase to the value of your Home Care Package

Facebook X (Twitter) Email Copy

Published date: 6 March 2025

The Australian Government is supporting further increases to the award wages of many registered and enrolled nurses working in aged care.

The increase is in support of the Fair Work Commission’s decision to increase some aged care worker wages.

How does this impact you?

If you receive care and services from a registered or enrolled nurse as part of your Home Care Package, your provider may need to increase how much they charge you for those services.

The government has increased how much it contributes towards your Home Care package (this is known as the subsidy) to cover this increase. Because of this, you will continue to receive the same care and services for no additional cost.

What do you need to do?

If your provider does need to increase how much they charge you, they must:

  • first discuss these pricing changes with you
  • ask you to agree to these increases in your Home Care Agreement.

It’s important to keep in mind that any increase will be covered by the increase in the government’s contribution. Your contribution towards your Home Care Package won’t change.

If you do not agree to the price increase, it may make it harder for your provider to keep giving you the same level of care and services.
