Are you active in your community? Do you enjoy talking with people about aged care and ageing well?

The Australian Government is seeking expressions of interest from older people across Australia to join the Aged Care Council of Elders from January 2026.

The Council of Elders are a collaborative group of older people who provide advice to the Australian Government on all things aged care.

We encourage you to apply if you have lived experience of aged care. This could include:

  • receiving aged care services at home
  • living in an aged care home
  • caring for an older person
  • dementia care experience
  • living in a rural or remote area
  • experience with diverse communities.

You can find out more about the Council of Elders by watching their introduction video.

Applications close 5pm, Friday 26 September 2025.
