Roger and Elaine's story

After many years of building and running their own cleaning firm, Roger and Elaine were enjoying their retirement. But, as time passed, their years of physical work began to take their toll.

They were struggling to maintain their house and look after one another. And, with increasing medical conditions that required ongoing nursing support, Roger and Elaine decided to explore moving into a residential aged care home.

After being assessed by My Aged Care and approved for residential care, Roger and Elaine began looking for aged care homes in their area. After using the Find a provider tool on the My Aged Care website, they found and contacted a local home they liked. It had a shared bedroom available that was within their budget. This was important as they would both need to pay for their portion of the shared room.

Roger and Elaine entered care and soon appreciated the support and nursing services the home provided. After settling in, they considered their finances and decided they would like something extra. After a lifetime of hard work, Roger and Elaine had saved a sizable nest egg and wanted to see what premium services the residential care home had to offer. They wanted to live the rest of their days in as much comfort as possible.

They discussed their options with the staff at the home and decided to receive additional services. They agreed on the services and cost, then signed a Higher Everyday Living Agreement.

Both Roger and Elaine began benefitting from the comfort of the new services - making use of pay TV, a daily newspaper, and barista-style coffee every morning.
