Verified text messages from My Aged Care

From July 2026, new rules require that organisations be registered to have their branding show on text messages.

This is to help protect Australians from phone scams.

With these changes you can be more confident that branded messages are from the organisation they say they are from.

What will the text messages look like?

If organisations have registered their sender name: the registered branded name will appear at the top of the message (called a sender ID).

If organisations have not registered their sender ID: the message will show as ‘Unverified’.

These changes don’t apply to personal texts from phone numbers, emails or messaging apps like WhatsApp or iMessage.

Messages from My Aged Care

My Aged Care has registered their sender name which will appear at the top of the message.

Our messages will show as being from ‘MyAgedCare’ or ‘MyAgedCare.’ (with full stop) so you can be sure these messages are from us.

These messages could be to:

  • verify your identity
  • update you on the status of your application for services
  • provide links to further information.

Unverified messages

Messages which do not have specific branding (from an unverified sender) should be checked carefully.

They could be a scam or from a real organisation that have not yet registered their sender ID.

What do I do if I think it’s a scam?

If you have any concerns, take steps to check before you take action like confirming against the organisation’s official website or contact details.
