Priority aged care for people with Motor Neurone Disease

Older people living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) now get priority access to aged care funding and services. 

If MND is recorded during your aged care assessment and you are approved for Support at Home, you will receive: 

• urgent priority access to ongoing Support at Home funding 
• immediate priority access to the Assistive Technology and Home Modifications (AT-HM) scheme. 

This applies to older people who: 

• have already been approved for ongoing Support at Home and/or AT-HM funding, or  
• are approved for ongoing Support at Home funding or AT-HM scheme funding in the future. 

What do you need to do?

If your MND diagnosis was recorded during your aged care assessment, you do not need to do anything. You will receive priority access to your approved funding. 

If you’re not sure whether your MND diagnosis was recorded during your aged care assessment, contact your assessment organisation to check.  

If you were diagnosed with MND after your aged care assessment and are waiting for funding, contact My Aged Care to arrange a reassessment.
