New eLearning to help you get ready for the new Aged Care Act

Facebook X (Twitter) Email Copy

Published date: 29 July 2025

From 1 November this year, aged care in Australia is changing. The new Aged Care Act puts your rights at the centre of your aged care – making the system safer, fairer and more respectful.

To help you, your family or carers understand the changes, the Department of Health, Disability and Ageing is developing a series of free online learning modules.

Module 2: Aligning to changes is now available.

The new module covers:

  • accessing government-funded aged care services
  • understanding your rights
  • key changes to residential and in-home aged care
  • navigating complaints and concerns.

It builds on Module 1: Understanding and adapting to the Aged Care Act 2024, released in June.

Complete the learning modules by:

  • visiting the department’s website
  • accessing the Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) learning management system
  • downloading the training as a document.

The next module will be available in August 2025.
