To support and maintain care relationships between carers and clients, through providing good quality respite care for frail, older people so that regular carers can take a break. Our Respite and Wellness Centre is a day centre with a difference. We encourage Carers of frail aged people to attend, along with the people they care for. Our model has a strong focus on keeping people active and able and can tailor individual programs to support and enhance the health and wellbeing of everyone who comes to the Centre. We can demonstrate that Carers who access the Centre tend to have better health, social interactions, increased knowledge about caring and greater understanding of and trust in the supports available to them. These factors often contribute to better relationships with the people they care for and improvements in the Carers’ physical, mental and emotional capacity to continue to provide care at home.
