The Tasmanian Health Service - North West Region Adult Day Centres provide services to frail and aged people and younger people living with a disability or complex medical conditions. The Centres promote quality of life with the objectives to maximise clients’ independence, health and wellbeing and to prevent or delay admission to residential care. The programmes are designed to develop, maintain and support independent living and social interaction. The Centres provide stimulating, enjoyable and purposeful recreational and therapeutic activities for clients. They provide an opportunity to get out of the house and be involved in a range of activities. These activities provide mental and physical stimulation in a social and friendly environment. Services include transport to and from the Centres, excursions, lifestyle / recreational and diversional therapy, provision of midday meal and morning tea and respite for carers.
