Our Community Calls service (previously known as Silver Cord) is a Queensland wide telephone check-in service aimed at improving social connections. If you or a loved one are feeling lonely or isolated, or would just appreciate an extra check-in or chat during the week, our telephone services can help.
We provide regular and pre-scheduled telephone reassurance services to suit your needs. All calls are made by friendly staff and volunteers, so you can look forward to a familiar and friendly voice on the other end of the line.
Friendship calls
Enjoy a friendly chat over the telephone with a like-minded companion and improve your social connections.
Security calls
We’ll call you daily to check-in on your wellbeing. If there’s no answer, we will take action to make sure everything is OK, including calling emergency contacts. If necessary, we’ll ask Queensland Ambulance Service to do a welfare check.
