Service costs

Aged care homes are required to provide care and services as outlined in the Aged Care Service List within the Aged Care Rule. This includes help with everyday living tasks, as well as clinical and non-clinical care. These services are paid for or supplemented in different ways. Find out what you might need to pay for each below, or learn more about aged care home accommodation costs.

Support for your daily living

Support for your daily living is paid by your basic daily fee and the government hotelling supplement. Depending on your financial circumstances, you may pay some or all of the hotelling supplement as a hotelling contribution. Estimate what you'll need to pay.

This aged care home offers services and facilities to ensure comfortable everyday living, including:

  • administration services and emergency assistance
  • utilities such as gas, water and electricity, and heating and cooling
  • room, bathroom and communal area furnishings
  • toiletry goods
  • personal laundry
  • meals and refreshments.

Clinical and non-clinical care

Clinical care is fully supplemented for everyone on 1 November 2025 fee arrangements. Depending on your financial circumstances, you may need to contribute towards your non-clinical care costs by paying a non-clinical care contribution. Estimate what you'll need to pay.
Basic aged care services are included at all aged care homes. Residents at this aged care home can expect clinical and non-clinical care to be included by the provider.

Higher everyday living fee

You can choose to pay an additional fee at this aged care home to access higher quality services than are required under the Aged Care Rules. Examples of services provided by some homes include branded toiletries, extra laundry services like dry cleaning, or additional streaming services. If you are interested in these higher quality services, check what is available with the provider.

  1. New residents include residential respite and permanent care admissions. Residents are only counted once, when they first move in. People leave care for many reasons, such as end of life, moving to another service, going to hospital, and returning home following respite care. There are many factors that influence occupancy rates at an aged care home. This includes the number of places available at the home, renovation, and staff availability, among others. Occupancy rates alone do not reflect the likely availability of care or the quality of care at a home.
  2. Percentages shown are the sum of 'Always' and 'Most of the time' responses from the Residents' Experience Survey.
