  • appoint, at its expense, an eligible adviser to assist it to comply with its responsibilities: this appointment must be made by 5:00pm on 29 April 2021; and the adviser must be appointed for a period of at least six (6) months ceasing on 29 October 2021.
  • provide, at its expense, training for its officers, employees and agents as specified below and to demonstrate that it has provided that training.
This training should include, but not be limited to:
  • safe and effective clinical care and personal care including wound management, weight loss management, behavior management, identification and management of care recipients at risk of choking, identification and management of a consumers deteriorating condition;
 
The Provider must provide a written training plan to the Commission by 6 May 2021 and written evidence of successful completion of the specified training by 29 October 2021.
 
  • participate in weekly teleconferences with the Commission and ensure a weekly written report is prepared and provided to enable the Commission to monitor the provider’s progress towards returning to compliance.

  2. Revocation of approved provider status, unless an advisor is appointed by the approved provider for a period of six (6) months, at its expense, to assist the approved provider to comply with its responsibilities in relation to care and services.
  3. Revocation of approved provider status, unless the approved provider agrees to provide relevant training within six (6) months, at its expense, for its care staff, managers and key personnel to support it in meeting the needs of care recipients.

The Department of Health identified an immediate and severe risk to the health, safety and wellbeing of care recipients at the home following information received from the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency (the Quality Agency).

The Department has serious concerns in relation to the following:

The Department and the Quality Agency are continuing to monitor the service.

The care recipient and representatives meeting was held on 6 June 2017.

The adviser appointed by the approved provider commenced on 2 June 2017.

Following reconsideration of its original decision to impose sanctions, the department varied the expiry dates of sanction 2 and 3 to expire on 15/09/2017.

Continuing non-compliance is in relation to the Accreditation Standard outcome: * 2.4 Clinical care In particular, the issues of concern include: * Residents are not receiving care consistent with their assessed care needs; and * The clinical care of care recipients with complex and/or high care needs is not adequate.
Current status of service Current status of service The Department and the Accreditation Agency are continuing to monitor the Service. The Residents and Representatives meeting was held on 25 March 2013. A Nurse Adviser has commenced work at the Service.
