Program in Focus: Re-Engaging Volunteers into Residential Aged Care Facilities

Facebook Twitter Email Copy

Published date: 21 April 2022

If you need extra social support at your aged care home, there is help available.

The Re-engaging Volunteers into Residential Aged Care Facilities program can link you to a volunteer support network.

Aged care volunteers provide non-clinical social support. They can also help you with leisure activities and administrative tasks.

How do I get involved?

If you’re a resident in an aged care home and would like more emotional and physical support, ask your provider to get involved.

How does the program work?

Aged care homes express their interest in the program. Volunteers are then matched to facilities in their community.

All volunteers complete online training and go through police checks before visiting. They are also required to provide proof of COVID-19 and flu vaccinations.

Where can I find out more?

To learn more about the program, including how to get involved as an aged care provider, visit the Department of Health and Aged Care website.

To express your interest in becoming a volunteer, visit the volunteers national landing page.
