Frequently asked questions about income and means assessments
A new version of the Find a provider tool was launched on 1 July. The changes include:
- Addition of quality and compliance information to provider profiles
- Changes to the look and feel of the tool, to make it easier to use
Service Compliance Ratings for aged care homes are now published on the Find a provider tool, to assist My Aged Care clients with comparing providers. The 4-dot Rating shows a service’s current compliance status. The Service Compliance Rating allows you to access and compare information on the quality of an aged care home’s services, supporting more informed decision-making.
Working out how much you will pay is a key step when deciding what aged care services are right for you. Some of the fees and costs depend on your financial situation. The Australian Government uses income assessments or means (income + assets) assessments to work this out. A new tool was added to the My Aged Care website to help you work out whether you need to complete an income or means assessment, and if so, what’s included in the assessment.
A new page was added to the website in August with information about the different types of services that you can receive through a Home Care Package, as well as what’s not included.
A common question about applying for government-subsidised aged care services is “Am I eligible?” To help answer this question, we have introduced a simple tool called the eligibility checker. This tool lets you check if you meet the requirements before committing to an application. You don’t need to provide any personal information, and we don’t store any of your answers.
Our View your online client record page has been updated with helpful information and screenshots on how to set up, access, and use your My Aged Care online client record. This page also contains user guides with detailed instructions for My Aged Care clients as well as representatives.
A new topic was added to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section of the website, to cover the subject of quality in aged care. You can browse these questions and answers for information about how aged care homes are assessed, Service Compliance Ratings, how to make a complaint, and more.
With the launch of the Income and means assessment tool, we have added two sub-categories to the Costs and fees page in the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section. Browse this content for helpful information on income assessments for Home Care Packages and means assessments for aged care homes.
