New 'My guide to aged care' tool

The new My guide to aged care tool allows you to create and save a tailored guide to help you understand how to apply for and access government-funded aged care.

The My guide to aged care tool:

  • sets out simple steps you can follow to find aged care that’s right for you
  • helps you understand what’s involved and how long it might take
  • provides information on your options and the things you'll need to consider.

You can create your guide by answering a few questions which will then populate a series of steps based on your situation.

Find a provider updates

The Find a provider tool supports you to search for government-funded aged care providers in your area that suit your needs. We know this is an important tool and we constantly update it based on feedback from website users.

From this month, you can now search for multiple services at once.

Until now, people have only been able to search for one service type at a time when researching help at home providers. From today, you can now select as many services as you need, when you search for:

  • Help at home
  • Commonwealth Home Support Services
  • Short-term care.

Changes to search results

This change will also include enhancements to search ‘results cards’ and details pages to support this update. For example, each result card will highlight how many of the services you searched are offered by each provider.

We have also removed availability information from the search result cards – this means you’ll need to click on a provider to view the availability of specific services. This change means you will see more accurate availability information about the services you’re interested in.

Improved information on how to appoint or become a representative

We’ve improved the information on how to appoint and manage My Aged Care representative relationships.

The updated representatives page has improved content to better explain the role and types of representatives, and how to appoint them.

The new content is also interactive. It allows you to filter the information based on whether you would like to appoint a representative for yourself or become a representative for someone else.
