Join the conversation on Ageism Awareness Day

Friday, 1 October is the United Nation’s International Day of Older Persons.

This year the theme is ‘Digital Equity for All Ages’. It highlights the need for all people to have access and be able to take part in the digital world, regardless of age.

The global event will also take place on the same day as Australia’s first Ageism Awareness Day.

To mark the occasion, Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) and the Council of the Ageing (COTA) are encouraging everyone to join live conversations about ageism online.

What is ageism?

Ageism is one of many forms of discrimination. It occurs when people are treated differently because of their age.

It can affect everyone, but older people can be especially affected.

Where can I get involved?
