It’s going to get easier to manage your Home Care Package Budget

Published date: 1 March 2022

If you, or someone you care for, receives services through a Home Care Package, you may soon notice a change to your monthly statements.

The Department of Health has worked with aged care providers and older Australians to improve the design and format of these statements.

The recommended new design makes it clearer to see the funds coming in and out of your package each month.

The Department is encouraging all home care providers to align their monthly statements to the new preferred process template.

What does this mean for me?

Understanding how funds are currently spent can help you make better choices to support you to continue living independently at home.

Your monthly statement will show you:

  • your financial contribution and the government’s financial contribution into your Home Care Package each month
  • how these funds are spent on agreed services and items each month
  • the remaining monthly balance, which can be used to purchase agreed additional services and items.
