If you live in an aged care home, you may soon receive a letter from Services Australia about your fees. This includes whether there are changes to your fees or if you are due a refund.
This is part of Services Australia's quarterly review of residential fees.
What is the quarterly review of residential fees?
The quarterly review process is used to update your residential aged care fees.
Your fees may change because of:
- changes to your care needs
- changes to your financial circumstances
- changes to your personal circumstances
- indexation of aged care fees and thresholds on 20 September 2022.
Some people may see a change to their means tested care fee due to the introduction of the AN-ACC funding model for residential aged care on 1 October 2022. However, your means tested care fee is still determined by your means assessment and the cost of your care.
How do I know if my fees have changed?
The recent (September 2022) quarterly review took place on Friday 28 October. Services Australia is in the process of sending letters to people who are impacted.
If you receive a letter, it’s important to review it thoroughly as changes to fees will take effect from the date advised in the letter.
